Red XRC RC-2 1/5th Scale Petrol Radio Controlled Buggy

Unlike nitro radio controlled cars these petrol ones run on a mix of normal unleaded petrol and 2 stroke oil. These are available from any petrol station which makes them more practical and cheaper to run than a nitro model. Mixing the petrol is very easy as included in the package is a mixing bottle. You simply pour in some unleaded petrol up to the marker on the bottle and then top up to the second marker with the 2 stroke oil. This oil is usually found inside petrol stations with the other oils.If you look at other 1:5 scale petrol cars on the market you will see even though they are more expensive they usually don t include everything you need and you have to go out and buy your own radio equipment, special 1:5 scale steering servo, electronics battery pack and charger. With the XRC package everything you need is included, even a high capacity rechargeable battery pack with UK charger and a tool kit with all the tools needed to maintain the car. They also come with a full pack of stickers so you can customize the shell to your own preference.Features: 1) Fully assembled 2) Powerful pull start 23cc engine 3) Heavy duty parts (many metal) 4) Differential with built-in gear 5) Fully adjustable oil-filled shocks 6) Vented disc brake system 7) Feature packed CE/ROHS approved controller 8) 18kg/cm heavy duty servo 9) Sealed electronics box for use on wet days 10) Aluminium chassis Specifications: 1) Scale: 1/5 2 ) D/W: Rear 2WD system, differential with built-in gears 3 ) Brakes: Rear New Twin Disc 4 ) Radius of gyration: 200m 5 ) Engine: Single cylinder, two stroke, air-cooled, 23cc 6 ) Torque: 1.7N.m/12000rpm 7 ) Power: 1.5kw/12000rpm 8) Fuel: Petrol / engine oil (25:1) 9 ) Fuel tank capacity: 0.52L 10) Start method: pull start 11) LxWxH: 800x460x285mm 12) Tire (F): Ø120X85mm 13) Tire (R): Ø170X80mm 14) Wheelbase (F/R): 520mm 15) Tread: 340mm(F)/370mm(R)

You get what you pay for - Firstly do not expect this buggy to last it wont without upgrades. The 23cc Zenoah G230 engine clone is not quick straight out the box it is supplied with a Walbro WT644 style carb. This buggy will not hit 40 to 50 mph as the previous reviewer states. More like 30mph rc cars of this size seem to be travelling quicker than they actualy are and this car weighs alot.Right ok bad pointsThe steering servo rated at 18Kg is rubbish and will fail (easy upgrade)The air filter is poor quality but again can be upgraded (make sure you buy one that fits under the roll cage)there is not much clearance. The twin gear cogs are plastic but can be upgraded to metal (lots of owners have stripped the plastic gears)the gear cover is also plastic. The front lower suspension support arms brake very easily if you have a heavy impact on one of the front wheels. The rear diff and drive sprocket are open to the elements (you will need to make a cover for this)if you dont a stone could get in and the cogs may get damaged.Rear support arm brackets are plastic and do brake under heavy use (a plate can be made for this to strenthen them up).The exhaust lol is a piece of pipe with a bit of rubbish rubber connecting to the manifold box under the engine. This splits and allows oily residue to cover the chassis. You need to remove all the screws and nuts and add threadlock or they will shake loose (i lost four from under the chassis). The wheels are often wonkey but again you can upgrade. The handset functions fine but does feel cheap. The good bitsVery easy to work on.Runs on 25.1 petrol two stroke mix so cheap to run.Much cheaper to buy than any other 1/5th scale petrol car.Good adjustable shocks.Strong alloy chassis (i havent bent it yet). The tank is a good size i get about 40 mins on a tank full. The brakes are good (make sure you adjust them correctly)mine did not work too well when i got the car. MAKE SURE YOU FIT A FAIL SAFE.IF YOUR HANDSET GOES FLAT YOU WILL HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR AND THIS THING IS BIG YOU COULD HURT SOMEONE.Failsafes are about £13.00 and easy to fit.Easy to make your own parts to strengthen it up.Great fun to drive.Does not need the maintenance a nitro car does and far cheaper to run.A good introduction to petrol cars.If your not willing to upgrade and make your own parts steer clear.I love making parts and seeing how much quicker i can get it to go but thats me.My car is now 27cc has an upgraded carb and a race air filter.I have fitted metal gears and will be strengthening the front end soon.I am looking at fitting a reed valve when i feel the car is strong enough.I say buy one but treat it with care untill you upgrade the parts. Its cheap because the parts are made cheaply. But the car can be made into a pretty decent rough rider with work and bit of money.I hope this review helps.

RC-2 Petrol XRC Buggy! :-) - This remote controlled buggy is the best thing i have ever bought! It has a top speed between 40 and 50mph. The brake distance is about 7 meters. I recommend the buggy is used in a wide open space such as a dry field or a large empty car park. The buggy is fun and easy to control. The delivery was fast! :-)
